Purpose of the Position

The primary function of the Strategic Marketing Researcher & Lead Generation Team Manager is to manage the Marketing Research and Lead Generation teams – briefing, training, mentoring, prioritising, reviewing etc. This manager must have solid experience in desk research (qualitative and quantitative) on macro/mega trends, competitor research, USP, pricing, conferences / events and marketplaces. This role needs to strive for uncovering insights from quality research sources, not just collect data, but interpret the data into effective insights to contribute to strategies to scale businesses globally.


  • Understanding and interpreting a market research brief, clarifying and refining to ensure that the research conducted by the team meets the objectives and timeline of the brief
  • Briefing the team of new research briefs and ensuring the team is clear on what is required to meet the brief objectives
  • Reviewing key insights on mega and macroeconomic global trends gathered by the team
  • Directing the team on secondary research on local and global competitors including main competitors, pricing strategy, distribution, demographics, USP and positioning mapping – partner specific
  • Contributing to potential pre-scale tests based on primary data and insights, secondary research and the competitor mapping work
  • Managing the research on global marketplaces to identify revenue generating opportunities for the brand’s partners (clients) in the marketplaces templated
  • Manages the lead generation team in finding new websites based on the brand’s Parameters
  • Exhaust Podio Business Directories to find new companies, per country specified, that do not already exist in Podio
  • Extracting and analyzing very large, complex, datasets using a variety of tools
  • Quality control team members research in relation to lead generation and market research projects to ensure data and insights are of the highest quality and from credible sources.
  • Managing your team members via the Teamwork Project tool for project updates, visibility, prioritization and resource planning.
  • Provides daily management, mentoring, training, direction and communication to the team
  • Provides continual evaluation of processes and procedures. Responsible for suggesting methods to improve area operations, efficiency and service to both internal and external customers.
  • Provides statistical and performance feedback and coaching on a regular basis to each team member.
  • Writes and administers performance reviews for skill improvement, and completes all KPIs and scorecards as set by Anderson and the brand
  • Is available for employees who experience work and/or personal problems providing appropriate coaching, counseling, direction and resolution
  • Ensures employees have appropriate training and other resources to perform their jobs.
  • Responds to and resolves employee relations issues expressed by team members.
  • Creates and maintains a high-quality work environment so team members are motivated to perform at their highest level.
  • Addresses disciplinary and/or performance problems according to company policy.
  • Prepares warnings and communicates effectively with employees on warnings and makes effective/appropriate decisions relative to corrective action as required.
  • Establishes work procedures and processes that support the company and departmental standards, procedures and strategic directives.
  • Uses appropriate judgment in upward communication regarding department or employee concerns.

Ideal Qualifications, Experience & Skills

  • Degree or college studies in Business, Marketing, Commerce, Economics, Research/Analysis (or related field)
  • Ideally 3-5 years experience in a similar position – market research manager, senior market researcher or analyst
  • Experience in managing a team
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to interpret large amounts of data to multi-task
  • Familiarity with CRMs, Citrix and Microsoft applications ideal
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking
  • Discernment – ability to look in the right place for information.
  • Trendspotting – ability to identify trends and patterns that could be a good business investment company.
  • Ask questions proactively – need to communicate any issues, feedback, questions and suggestions to help progress Podio or Training material requirements.
  • Attention to detail – notice the little things and make comments where applicable on Podio.
  • Lateral thinking – not afraid to make suggestions on improvement.
  • Ability to take initiative, problem solve, and perform research
